The Bio:

Stacey Jay is a recovering workaholic (or at least working hard at recovering) with two small children, and a passion for playing pretend for a living. She’s been a full time mom-writer since 2005 and can't think of anything she'd rather be doing. Her former careers include theatre performer, professional dancer, poorly paid C-movie actress, bartender, waiter, math tutor, and yoga instructor.

In her very limited spare time, Stacey enjoys cooking elaborate dinners and eating them very slowly, dressing up in costumes with her sons, and drinking wine with her husband. She loves to hear from readers and personally answers every single email she receives.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Why do you write YA novels?

A: I'm a young adult at heart. For me, that means I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm and hope, but I also spend a lot of time wondering what the heck is going on. Life is big and confusing and never more so than when you're trying to grow up. I haven't stopped growing up yet, so young adult novels still feel very authentic for me to write. Also, the young adult genre is amazingly fun. And fun is good.

Q: Why did you start an adult urban fantasy series?

A: Though I'm a young adult at heart, I play at being an adult in everyday life. This play-acting led me to a story idea that wasn't quite appropriate for younger young adults. The DEAD ON THE DELTA series is appropriate and relevant for mature teen readers, however.

Q: Did you grow up in Arkansas? For real?

A: Yes. And I wore shoes...most of the time.

Q: Will you send me a book for review?

A: I would love to! But...I really can't afford to send a book to everyone who asks. So I've decided not to send any at all. If you'd like an Advanced Reader Copy of any of my upcoming releases, please contact the appropriate publisher. (That way they get to be the mean guys and say yes or no!)

Q: Will you send me promotional items for giveaway?

A: I'd love to send you postcards or bookmarks or whatever I have on hand. Contact me via the contact page here on the website and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. There are times--in between releases--when I'm short on promotional materials and I may have to say no, but I promise to do my best to accomodate these requests. (I do not ship internationally, however. Again, it's just cost prohibitive. Some day that may change, but for now I don't have the funds to send to all the international readers, so I'm choosing not to send to any.)
